What it can look like at home
A furnace, boiler, heat pump, ductless system, or oil burner can lose heat in different ways. Note whether the equipment starts, whether the blower or circulator runs, whether one zone still heats, and whether the thermostat display is normal.\n\nDo not remove panels, bypass switches, open fuel lines, or repeatedly reset a burner. Safe observations are enough to give the service visit a useful starting point.
Why it can happen
Controls, electrical supply, fuel delivery, ignition, venting, airflow, water circulation, zone controls, pressure, distribution, and equipment protection limits can all interrupt heat. The condition of the home and the outdoor temperature affect urgency but do not identify the failed part.
